In just a few weeks time the Irish Hillclimb Championship will get under way; Round one starts in Co Clare on 3-4th of April…

If you are new to Hillclimbing? It’s timed over three runs over a closed section of road, unlike Rallying there are no Pacenotes. Just a driver’s memory & Bravery.

There’s no doubt about it, Hillclimbing is one of the most exciting diverse forms of motor sports in Ireland today. Single Seaters, Rallycars, Kitcars, Historic cars; it’s got the lot!
And there’s no shortage of talent either, Paul O’Connell, Simon McKinley, Sylvie Mullins, Brendan Harper to name but a few.

Simon McKinley:

Simon McKinley seems to defy the laws of physics in his Escort, simply stunning;  His control of the Escort leaves spectators stunned. His speed  breathtaking…

Paul O’Connell:

“Frightenly Fast” as one spectator put it when he saw Paul in action in Clare, as you can see from the picture below.

For a second or two Paul had three wheels in the air as he accelerated thru the corner.

But these are just a few of the Motorsport Thespians, who regularly compete in the Irish Hillclimb Championship.
